Mother's Day 2012

Happy Mother's Day! We celebrated yesterday by renting a pontoon boat and fishing on Cowan Lake. After that, church and dinner. What a great day! Sorry, no pictures from yesterday. Taylor caught our only fish, an impressive and HUGE bass!

Taylor had a soccer game on this really, really rainy Mother's Day. I thought for sure it would be canceled, but this is club soccer and sometimes club is a wee bit OVERBOARD. The Wilmington Heat came away a 2-0 win and Taylor played great despite the rain.

Halftime talk. Doesn't it look miserable? My mom and I watched the game from the back of the 4Runner. Wimps. :)

Late lunch at Damon's.

All of my babies.

Taylor is squished.

Michael and his buddies.

Taylor and her American Girl doll. I love that she can push and shove during a tough soccer game and still come home and play dolls. :)

These soccer pictures are old, but I forgot to put them on here. Another rainy soccer weekend.

Easter 2012

We made sure we were back from Florida in time for Easter morning church. We were all a little tired, but we were happy we went!

Spring Break Part III

Michael has always liked swimming in the pool, but he surprised us one night when he decided he was done with the floaties. Taylor was so excited to teach her little bro the basics. He ended up swimming about 10 feet by himself. His mentor was beaming. :)

Our last day was just gorgeous and we soaked up every last bit of Florida that we could. The water was stunning the last day. Completely calm and clear.

We headed to Harbor Walk, a group of restaurants, shops and entertainment on our last night. We enjoyed live music, a good dinner, beautiful views and ice cream.

We left for home well before dawn and got home by dinner. Thanks to God for another wonderful family vacation (and they get easier and easier!!).

Spring Break Part II

We had a really mild winter here (for the first time I can remember, NO snow days or delays) and a hot early spring, so it was no surprise that Destin was also warmer than usual. The beach was perfect - hot sun, but cool breezes off the Gulf. The water temperature was just right.

Even this guy approved:

I've mentioned before that I love the beach and the salt water. I love to jump in the waves and boogie board. Wouldn't you know it that one of the times that Mike decided to walk in and cool off that a dolphin swam right past him! I'm talking 10 feet away! There were several times that we saw dolphins swimming near the beach. In all of my years of visiting the Gulf, I've never seen them do that.

Our condo is on the first floor, so we have our own patio and grassy space. The kids were extra silly on this night.

What is vacation without ice cream?

Of the week that we were there, only two days were rainy/overcast. On one of those days, we decided to try miniature golf. How fun! The kids did great and Mike and I tied.

Back at the condo. What's vacation without wifi? Boy, how things have changed!

Whether it's in Cincinnati or Florida, the kids love Fridays.

The weather cleared that night and we decided to do some late-night boogie boarding (me) and sand octopus building.

Yikes, she looks old!

I took the picture below from in the water. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....

The next day was supposed to be rain all day, so we planned an impromptu Dolphin watching tour that morning. Because of the forecast, only two other families were on the entire boat. About 15 minutes into the 2-hour trip, the clouds broke and the weather was beautiful! We really lucked out and saw tons and tons of dolphins.

This is the same captain we had last year. He is so sweet!

We hit the beach later and the kids found the victim I mentioned in the last post. You didn't think it was going to be me, did you?

I have one more set of pictures to add to the next blog. It's pouring and cool here. I miss Florida!

Until next time,
