Kit-tee

Saturday night, we found a tiny kitten hanging out in our garage. The weather was rainy and gross, so we let it stay in there overnight. Overnight turned into Sunday morning, and well, you get the picture. The thing is currently curled up in a ball on a chair in the garage. The kids are, of course, in love with it.

Only we have a few problems. 1) We have a big amorous dog that loves everyone and everything. Except for cats. 2) Mike and Taylor are both allergic to cats. 3) Cats aren't really my thing.

Still, I'm an animal person and the little critter is really cute and too small to fend for itself, so I'm letting it hang out until I find it a home. She is getting quite comfortable.

Kitty in her chair.

First thing Taylor did after her soccer game - check on the kitty.

No pictures of the Pear with the kitty, because it's a tad bit afraid of his boorishness. He tries to be gentle (as much as a 1 1/2 year old can be). He talks about "kit-tee" all day.

Taylor's soccer team is 6-1 now. She's having so much fun that we'll be sad to see it end in a few weeks. Here are a few pictures from tonight's game.

She's got her game face on.

This gives you an idea how the games go - eight kids in one picture, haha. Taylor is #5.

She likes playing goalie and is pretty good at it. She's got the throw down pat.

Michael refused to look at me.

Here are a few other pictures from the past few days. They include cousin Abby's 3rd birthday party and making mini cupcakes.

I can't believe Abby is 3!

Taylor with her typical cheese.

Our mini cupcake creations. They are tasty (a little too tasty...).

Michael amused himself by making sprinkle towers.

Until next time,

Pictures

We're getting settled into the new school year and activities. There's work, preschool, ballet, soccer practices and games, play dates, etc., etc. Fun, but definitely a lot busier than the summer! That's why I'm going to be lazy and just post some pictures from the past week. :)

The Worm is learning to hit pitched balls instead of using the tee.

"Johnny Bench, you've got nothing on me," says the Pear as he holds six balls.

My baby isn't a baby anymore! Look how huge he looks in the crib now. And yes, he still chews on that blanket.

Pretty girl after a day at school.

We're soaking up every last bit of summer.

Sibling love.

As I mentioned in the last post, Michael is all about cheesing for the camera. (Notice another big ol' bruise on his head. This one involved the front door, 98-pound Champ and a cement step...)

Hee hee - I love this picture.

The men.

Check out that sunset! In my mind, 8 o'clock is about the perfect time for the sun to go down.
Alright, off to bed!
Until next time,

First Day of School

Today was Taylor's first day of preschool. You might be wondering, "Uh, didn't Taylor graduate from preschool last year?" You are correct, my friends. Since her birthday is so close to the cutoff, we debated all summer whether or not to send her to kindergarten. After weighing the pros and cons, we decided to wait a year and send her back to Sonshine. She has a few other "redshirt" kids from last year's class with her and her favorite teacher, Mrs. Washburn, is back.

The Worm was so excited this morning and loved every minute of class. The parents got to hang out today and it was fun watching her socialize and learn.

All ready for school!

The Worm and The Pear. They're getting so big!

Checking things out.

Taylor also started ballet lessons Tuesday night. Now, I pretty much played every sport growing up, but dance - not so much. I was a total tomboy, but I want the kids to be able to figure out for themselves what their interests are. So, we're entering uncharted territory; I do have to admit, she looked so cute in her ballet outfit.

Wormarina.

Pear loving his lollipop. He's been so cheesy for the camera lately!

Taylor's First Ohio State Game

We decided several years ago that 5 is the "magic age" in our house. Yes, 5 marks a rite of passage - permission to attend an Ohio State football game in person.

Now, I have the Worm pretty brainwashed. She loves the Buckeyes, knows the words to the fight song, Hang on Sloopy, etc. I promised to take her to the home opener today and she couldn't wait. We gave the boys kisses and headed to Columbus.

I forgot two things about THE Ohio State University. The campus is a) huge and b) insanely crowded during football games. Taylor was a trooper and probably walked three miles in all, weaving through massive crowds. I had her pose in front of some of my favorite places:

Since I couldn't visit the Varsity Club with the Worm in tow, I had her pose close by.

Where I spent most of my time during junior/senior years.

Ohio Stadium before we walked through the crowded tailgates.

This isn't the actual Evans Scholar house I lived in. They built a new house this past year and it is incredible. It makes the old house look like a slum! Of course, I loved the old house too, and appreciated having my school paid for (and my own bathroom).

Not a "favorite place" (I never even lived in the dorms), but how could I resist this?

Yes, she's 5.

Once we were settled inside and got some cold drinks and snacks, we were all good. Taylor loved the band (it was alumni band day, so there over 800 band members on the field!), Brutus and the stadium-wide cheers. The Buckeyes didn't play their best game, but a W is a W in my book. We had a blast!Pre-game picture.

Dippin' Dots, one of the many crappy foods we consumed.

Brutus leading the team onto the field.

Taylor was exhausted on the way home, but I'm sure she'll be asking about the next game soon!

Asleep, mid-color.

Until next time,
