I Love This Kid

Here's a sampling of how the Pear and I spend our time during my days off.

He is so my child. Notice how he bumps the car, then can't resist stopping to line it back up. We both do that kind of stuff all day long.

Until next time,

Thanksgiving '10

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving this year. We went to my dad's house for Thanksgiving dinner. My dad's house isn't huge, but I love having celebrations there because there aren't a whole lot of distractions - no video games, computers, extra TV areas, etc. Everyone has to hang out and the kids have to play together and everyone always ends up having so much fun!

Everyone at dinner except Michael and I. Kim and Angie joined us for dessert.

The kids' table. They all thought they were cool sitting there, like it was their own little club. I'm thankful for so many blessings this year - family, friends, health, financial security. Another thing is a little independence for the kiddos! It was nice knowing they could sit there, eat on their own and be fine.

Awwwww.

Chris's family. Back: Jacob, Laurie, Chris; front: Haley, Abby, Noah. Yes, Jacob is way taller than his mom now!

Both my kids adore Jacob. He's so good with kids.

Off to prepare for the Ohio State game!

Grandmas and Stuff

Happy Thanksgiving! I had a post in the works this week, but never finished it, so I'll hold off on Thanksgiving pictures until I get this one up.

The kids have been thrilled to spend time with both grandmas the last few weeks! My mom went with us to the zoo a few Saturdays ago on a beautiful and unseasonably warm November day.

Grandma, the kids and an Asian elephant.

I usually try to avoid posting pictures of just animals since we've all seen zoo animals before. I thought this adorably pudgy pachyderm was worthy of its own shot.

Running ahead to see the giraffes.

Checking out the gibbons.

The gang in front of one of G-ma's favorites - the red pandas.

Yes, it was November and warm enough for flip flops. In Ohio. Unbelievable!

My mom and I both have a weird sense of humor. She turned to me with a shocked and saddened face because of this crime scene (or deflated Christmas decoration).

One of Taylor's favorites - the polar bear.

Michael loves orangutans and asked to see them all day long. We came in on the opposite side of the zoo, but we finally made our way over to them.

For the Pear.

In Jungle Trails. I'm convinced that my hometown has one of the best zoos in the country!

Manatees.

No trip to the zoo is complete without a ride on the carousel.

The next weekend, Grandma N came from Pittsburgh to visit! She brought the kids lots of crafts and coloring supplies, which they loved. They we both so excited to see her. Marilyn is an artist and showed Taylor some cool art techniques. She also taught Michael that red and yellow make orange, and he's still walking around saying it!

Artists at work.

Taylor has fallen in love with the Magic Treehouse series of books. She pretends to be Annie and "encourages" Michael to be Jack. (Jack and Annie are the two kids in the books.) Michael eats it up and follows her around everywhere.

Jack and Annie on an adventure.

I made the kids a tent in the living room. I had to do a little freelance work in the basement and came back to find this. The were being so silly and raided Taylor's underwear drawer, then were jumping off the chairs used to brace the tent onto the loveseat. I took a couple of pictures to embarrass them with later and then made them stop.

Seriously?

Alright, off to hang with the hubs.

Until next time,

Mommy Kel

November Stuff

November. When most people think of November, they probably think of the usual stuff, Thanksgiving, colder/shorter days, blah, blah. Me? I think of basketball, because this is when the fun begins.

Don't get me wrong. I love basketball, I love that Mike is such a great coach, I love watching games. Things just get a lot more hectic once the season starts!

Taylor had two big events Sunday, a fun cooking birthday party for her friend Katie and a soccer banquet. The birthday party was adorable and I give props to the mom. It was creative, fun and organized.

I wanted to take a picture of Taylor before Katie's party. She posed and winked on her own. What a ham!

The little cooks, decorating strawberry ladybugs.

How cute is this?

I picked Taylor up from the party, she did a quick change of clothes in the car (much to her dismay) and headed to her soccer banquet. As I've mentioned, the Blue Jets were undefeated league champs, so they got pretty sweet trophies!

She was so happy!

Our neighbor Alison's team also won its league!

Taylor and Sydney.

Go Blue Jets!

Go Blue Jets!

Lastly, a few adorable pictures of Michael. :)
